Peach Fuzz!

Everything on the colour of the year 2024: Peach Fuzz

Colour me beautiful!

Just like the Oscars, it's exciting when Pantone announces the colour of the year. Designers in any field simply can't ignore it. In 2024, it's "Peach Fuzz"! Sounds nice, but do we like it?

The clear answer is: It really depends. On materials, usage, number of items, colour combinations and so on. Needless to say, we at home INTERIOR are always interested in new colours. - Although, trend colours have a different meaning for us than in fashion.

What does the trend colour 2024 represent?

„PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It's a velvety and gentle peach tone, whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.“ - That's how the company describes it on their website.

„In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a colour radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.“ says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute™

Choosing the PANTONE colour of the year?

A team of colour experts at the Pantone Color Institute explores new colour influences in entertainment, art, fashion, design, travel, lifestyles, technology and social phenomena. They analyse and discuss emerging colour trends. This process takes a lot of time. On top, there's the important choice of the name. It is supposed to enhance the perception of the colour, should trigger stories and in general be meaningful.

So what does the colour of the year imply?

It has a major impact on fashion, cosmetics, interior design, vehicle construction, industrial design, as well as product, packaging and multimedia design. Perhaps you have already seen a phone cover in Peach Fuzz? The colour speaks about the state of the world and also reflects back on it.

Peach Fuzz in the fashion world

Spring/summer 2024 will see pastel colours take the lead in the fashion world. They will replace the vibrant tones that were street style last year. Baby blue, mint green, pastel yellow and pink are just as popular this year as the powdery apricot tone Peach Fuzz.

Fashion shows everywhere presented Peach Fuzz in many different shades and combinations, e.g. as eye-catching 3D flowers or as a new bag colour, but also as a coordinated look.

Peach Fuzz in interior design

Peach Fuzz is an intimate colour. Delicate, vulnerable, warm, soft, completely innocent, peaceful and friendly — this colour has the potential to turn rooms into private hideaways. Or to add a human touch, to make them a “safe space”. Cheerfully winking, remembering a glass of rosé wine in summer, liberty, and lightness.

Amidst all the crises in our world, Peach Fuzz puts a smile on your face, if only metaphorically.

A quick survey of our interior designers for private living reveals the following: everyone likes Peach Fuzz. However, everyone also agrees that it has its limits when it comes to designing rooms in real life. Large coloured areas or entire pieces of furniture are not what they see coming.

The colour is perfect for patterns on fabrics and wallpapers and for home accessories such as cushions, blankets, vases, and candlesticks. Especially when combined with “neutrals”, which have become the gold standard in the trade. Their main asset is their durability; investments in neutrally coloured products pay off.

A calm and neutral ambience can easily look boring. To prevent this and to show character, interior designers with a sense of style select special home accessories — this season often in peach fuzz.

Matching colours and materials

Peach Fuzz is a perfect match for dark colours such as matt navy blue and strong forest green. Combined with black, the contrasts are high, paired with white it looks romantic and sweet. And it adds a charming kick of freshness to neutrals.

Stone, polished concrete, dark wood and metal create an inspiring symbiosis with Peach Fuzz. For a light ambience, combine the colour with light oak or beech wood and bright copper and gold. Choose a velvet peach-coloured armchair with copper-coloured metal legs as an exceptional interior highlight in 2024.

In a nutshell

As lovely as the colour is, Peach Fuzz is not “everybody's darling”. At Home INTERIOR, we are always open to new ideas and unfamiliar pairings. That's why we like the colour of the year 2024: it challenges and stimulates our creativity and allows us to demonstrate our expertise.

PS: Did we anticipate the colour? Who knows what was going through the minds of our designers while planning the remodelling of our Design Center in Mils: deliberately placed accents in Peach Fuzz show how to deal with the colour of the year 2024 in interior design. A real extravagance: the Peach Fuzz sofa!
