The narrow window of time of five to six weeks. This means you need partners who strictly adhere to deadlines. When home INTERIOR gives us a date, we can count on their truck being at the door first thing in the morning. The construction team works quickly, professionally and are always friendly. All this saves us a lot of headaches.
LIVING IN A HOTEL # 04
Hotel Gletscherblick****s, St. Anton am Arlberg
Freedom and functionality, fantasy and fun – the demands placed on the interior design of hotels are many and varied. A challenge that makes our design team at home INTERIOR light up. Insights into beautiful hotels, episode 4.
Fitting for the season, we pay a visit to Sandra and Christian Jehle on the Arlberg, in their establishment, that the family has been running for 50 years. We talk about interior design in the hotel, the latest construction projects – and old love that doesn’t fade.
THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN A HOTEL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT?
HOW DOES INTERIOR DESIGN WORK IN AN EXISTING BUILDING?
Quality has always been important to us. It would be a shame to simply get rid of high-quality fixtures. We want to keep the hotel in tune with the times, but step for step, as it suits us. There must be an intimate union between the old and the new; the aim is not to create fractures, but rather to establish an organic development.
HOW DO YOU WORK WITH HOME INTERIOR?
When we contact Monika Kruselburger, we tell her about our plan. At this point, we have already gathered inspiration from magazines. A few weeks later, we go to Mils and allow ourselves to be enchanted by the collage of material that has been prepared. – In the truest sense.
We have known each other for many years now – our first project together was in 1999! The advantage of this is that the interior designers at home can gauge our needs well. At the same time, they aspire to surprise us time and again and to motivate us to try something new.
WHAT DO YOUR GUESTS SAY ABOUT THE NEW SPACES?
The ambience in our establishment is perceived as contemporary, modern and down-to-earth. Light-hearted, pleasant and understated Tyrolean hospitality with a view that extends beyond the mountain peaks.
