SANDHOF
LECH AM ARLBERG

Alpine cosiness, crafted with precision. We instinctively sense whether a design is simply superficial, or whether it is rooted in genuine substance and honest craftsmanship.

There's no doubt the newly remodelled spaces at the hotel Sandhof in Lech belong to the latter category. Here, the rooms avoid excessive decor and instead focus on a subtle balance of wood, textiles and light. The result is an interior that radiates tranquillity without seeming random.

The tactile quality of the surfaces is particularly striking.

Dark, softly upholstered wall panels frame the sleeping zones. Light-coloured upholstery fabrics with a tweed-like look have a fine dot pattern created by bouclé yarn.

In addition, there are distinctive wood surfaces featuring striking grain patterns, layered curtains and many other textured fabrics. The colour palette is muted yet vibrant, drawing inspiration from nature: stone, grey, brown, rust tones and more. Everything appears precise, yet not artificial.

Light as a subtle collaborator. Light also helps to shape the surfaces here. Wall lights bring out the texture of the dark fabric surfaces, whilst spotlights highlight the wall panels.

The pendant light above the dining table adds a warm accent with its own distinct presence. This creates a tangible relationship between the surfaces and the lighting.

Sleeping, relaxing and dining are clearly separated in the apartments. Wood, textile surfaces and upholstery organise the spaces without creating sharp divisions. They feel thoughtfully designed, but not overdone.

Three questions on the Sandhof project

Please refer to our general FAQ page for answers to further questions.

The synergy of highly tactile natural materials (tweed, bouclé, wood) and a lighting design that brings these textures to life at night.

By avoiding stereotypical decorative elements. Instead, we use materials themselves (e.g. rust-coloured textiles, natural stone tones) to create a warm atmosphere.

Besides looking classy, they significantly improve the room’s acoustics and create a tangible sense of acoustic calm, essential for a relaxing hotel experience.
